Members of our team are also Assistant Professors at the Faculty of Shari’a and Law at Sana’a University, one of the most reputable Universities in Yemen, and accordingly have a developed knowledge of commercial laws and regulations in force in Yemen. In addition, through his earlier roles as President of the Commercial Appellate Division of the Commercial Court of Appeals and later as Member of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, our Managing Partner, has issued a large number of judgments relating to commercial disputes and is thereby well renowned for being an Expert with profound and practical experience on commercial and maritime laws in Yemen.
We are the external Lawyers and Legal Consultants of a number of leading banks. We have successfully handled numerous complex banking related disputes for various clients, some of which were settled through negotiation and amicable settlement and others through a final judgment in favour of our clients.
More generally, we assist and advice banks and other financial institutions on daily basis, on compliance with laws and financial regulations; with respect to their day to day business transactions with customers including issuance of credit facilities, letters of credit, letters of guarantee and counter guarantees, securities and debt collection; and; resolution of disputes with third parties and government authorities and institutions on any banking related issues.
Aside from the internal team’s experience in the field of banking, the Firm also has a Specialist Consultant for technical banking related matters to enable us to provide clients with a complete and practical solution.
The Firm has special expertise in tax and investment law. We have successfully handled tax related cases for our major clients with respect to significantly high value tax claims and continuously advise clients on compliance with tax and zakat laws and regulations and the necessary payment of our clients’ taxes and zakat contributions for their business activities. Additionally, through his role as ex-Minister of Justice, our Managing Partner was able to in the drafting and review of investment laws and regulations.
Maritime law lies at the heart of our Firm’s work. The team as a whole has a strong background in the field and more particularly and the Firm provides legal advice to many local and international clients and to maritime insurance companies with respect to maritime insurance and commercial maritime related issues.
Our Managing Partner specifically has extensive experience on maritime law. He has taught maritime law for many years, during his role as Assistant Professor at the Department of Commercial and Maritime Law at Sana’a University and has rendered decisions on several maritime disputes during his earlier position as Member of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court.
We are the external Legal Counsel for a number of oil and gas companies, advising them on a number of commercial legal issues across their different activities. We advise and assist various international companies conducting business in the oil and gas field with respect to the establishment of a presence in Yemen and registration of their business activities; with obtaining necessary approvals from the different competent authorities; and on other Yemeni law issues.
We more generally provide advice and assistance (including drafting and review) to both local and international companies and government bodies and institutions on the wide range of contracts and agreements concluded with respect to petroleum activities conducted in Yemen, including Production Sharing Agreements, Implementation Agreements, Service Agreements and Joint Venture Agreements.

Intellectual Property is a developing field in Yemen and our Firm is able to provide the most up to date and effective service to ensure we protect the rights and interests of our clients. We have handled many IP related disputes for our clients and some well-known international companies.
Although we no longer provide registration services of trademarks with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, through working in this field we have developed knowledge of all the IP laws and regulations and the related procedures, and we offer all other forms of legal services in the field. Our work includes advising on any IP related inquiries; assisting clients with filing objections; representation in any appeal process before the competent authorities in Yemen; or general representation in any disputes before the Ministry of Industry and Trade or before the competent Courts that handle conflicts related to the protection of IP rights and licensing agreements.
